The Dream Slow Motherhood Morning Routine
One of the most challenging parts of shifting to a slower motherhood journey, especially when you're coming from an overwhelmed, always busy state, is figuring out what to do with the extra space you've created in your life.
For mornings in particular, it can feel especially difficult to lean into extra space because there's normally such a rush to get out the door. When you're used to tapping into the running mental to do list in the back of your mind and always taking care of just one more thing with every little bit of extra time you find, truly slowing down takes real effort.
Tap into these slow motherhood morning routine ideas to start building out the morning of your dreams.
By the way, if you're still riding the morning rush and struggling to make it out the door on time with kids, work bag, and lunches in tow, I've got you. Start with these simple steps to visualize an ideal morning routine, create space for it to come alive, and build it into your everyday.
Slow Motherhood Morning Routine Ideas
Establish a morning yoga and meditation routine.
Just a few moments each day can transform your mindset, build your emotional capacity, and set the tone for a steady, positive day ahead. Take 15 minutes to wake up your body and another 5 minutes to center yourself for the day ahead with a simple meditation practice. There's no need for a fancy workout set or a trip to the studio to tap into the benefits of a yoga practice. Subscribe to the LaRose Wellness Collective YouTube channel for 15-minute morning yoga and 5-minute meditation routines for busy moms seeking to build a slower motherhood journey and morning routine.
Enjoy your coffee, matcha, or other morning beverage outside while sitting down.
Allow the morning sun to work its magic alongside your caffeinated beverage of choice. Bonus if you use this time as a nature sit spot opportunity to take note of what is happening in the natural world on this day. And a gentle reminder that your kids can come too. We don't opt out of slow morning opportunities like this one just because the kids are awake; they can enjoy this gentle nature connection ritual too!
Take a family walk.
The family walk is commonly reserved for after dinner, and that's a great time for it! But why not lean into the nature connection a little earlier in the day? Get the whole family outside and moving with a short (or long!) stroll. Don't forget to romanticize this slow motherhood ritual by allowing the pace to fit to your younger children and their fascination with the little things, like bugs, leaves, flowers, and critters.
Eat breakfast as a family.
Mornings can so quickly spiral into chaos, especially with young kids, and everyone ends up snagging a bite to eat when they can or on their way out the door. As you create space in your slow motherhood morning routine, consider whether there is room to sit down together. Even a simple breakfast of cereal or quickly fried eggs can feel special when you make a point to take it together.
Do one chore.
Wait, chores?! A slow morning routine feels amazing, but knowing you have a stacked to do list can put a damper on that feeling. Compare your current morning routine of rushing around and knocking out as much as you can around the house before loading everyone up into the minivan to get to daycare, school, or work...to simply taking care of one important must-do chore per morning. Completing a household task can scratch that productivity itch so many of us feel when we start to embrace a slower life and allow your mind to settle and body to relax because you know something is getting done.

Slow motherhood is about simplicity. When you open up space in your chaotic, rushed mornings, you get to decide where that newfound time can go. Nourishing yourself and spending more quality time with your kids are two opportunities that will always be worthwhile.
